Dennis DeSilva: Studio SevenCameras technically only capture light. Emotionally, they capture moments, feelings and memories. The tears in your father's eyes, the first kiss, the first dance - the moments that you want to last forever. People say a picture speaks a thousand words. I say it brings back a thousand memories. Background and AccomplishmentsAlthough Dennis DeSilva of Studio Seven spent a lot of time in his father's home state of Hawaii growing up, he is a native of the San Francisco Bay area where he still resides today. At 18 he met his destiny when he was asked to photograph a friend's wedding. The experience inspired him to get a degree in cinematography and a minor in photojournalism.
DeSilva's photos have been published in a variety of publications over the years including: Newsweek, People, The San Francisco Chronicle, Range Finder Magazine and The Knot. Edward M. Kennedy also chose one of DeSilva's photographs for the cover of his book entitled, Our Day and Generation. His client list includes Pixar and Lucas Films.
For over three decades now, Dennis DeSilva has been photographing brides and grooms, capturing the moments of today that will be the treasured memories of tomorrow. His photojournalistic approach tells a story through his photos. In addition to politicians, world leaders, and hundreds of blushing brides and grooms he has also photographed many celebrities, proof that he is a true professional, trustworthy and discreet when working for influential clients. It is often said that imitation is the greatest form of flattery. DeSilva is now recognized as a pioneer of wedding photojournalism, and his compositions and use of natural light have been copied by many photographers trying to emulate DeSilva's work. Style & Strengths
ServiceDennis DeSilva can be commissioned for services ranging in price from $4500-10,000. Commissions include photographing time, editing and one-of-a-kind Italian albums. Although DeSilva does shoot film, he has transitioned to shooting digitally which allows him more editing control. He generally brings a second shooter to all of his events which also allows him to cover the event more thoroughly. In Conclusion...A sophisticated wedding deserves the experience of a seasoned photographer, a photographer who has been a leader in the industry, one who championed the trend toward photojournalism over lackluster portraits and who can be trusted to capture the essence of your special day and tomorrow's memories. As Molly Wilson, one of DeSilva's brides puts it, "Dennis DeSilva's images are truly an expression of art that are clearly heads and shoulders above the rest."
